Lake Winnipesaukee’s Governor's Island is a five-hundred-acre island connected to the mainland via a beautiful arched stone bridge. Much of the island's acreage is preserved as open space and used as shared natural woodlands, additionally, activities such as cross country skiing and hiking are enjoyed by the island residents in this open space. As a property owner on the island, you automatically become a member of the Governor’s Island Club (GIC) and the degree to which you participate in island activities is entirely up to you. In addition to the preserved open space, the island offers a variety of beautiful homes with carefully constructed roadways winding throughout the island designed to protect the ambiance. Once you leave the island you are only a short drive to great restaurants, medical facilities, shopping, and the Laconia Airport, capable of servicing most medium sized jet aircraft.
The island is one of only a few locations around the lake where the entire island enjoys a consistency of development designed to maximize the character of the environment and protect the owners' investments.
