Lake Winnipesaukee Golf Club
Over the last couple of years a gentleman by the name of Bernard Chiu has been quietly building his dream golf course in the Lakes Region of New Hampshire. Chiu selected former Eurpean Ryder Cup team member and golf course architect Clive Clark to completely rebuild and redesign the former Perry Hollow Country Club.

Clive Clark has done most of his work in Europe, but did design the highly regarded Belgrade Lakes in Maine prior to working with Bernard Chiu. Although many of the holes are roughly in the same place they neither look nor play like the old course as each hole was stripped and a complete new infrastructure was installed from the sub-soil on up. However, there are several completely new holes that can only be described as breathtaking. Each hole was designed while trying to incorporate the natural beauty of the lakes and mountains of New Hampshire and there are incredible vistas from many of the course's elevated tees.
While most top notch golf courses have between 500 and 600 sprinkler heads, LWGC has over 1,400 computer controlled heads so that perfect fairway, rough and fescue lines can be maintained. Also, you will notice how cart paths and their accompanying fairways were designed in such a way that as you look down the fairway you do not see the paths themselves.
The first thing everyone notices is the white marble sand that is trucked all the way from New York. The bright white traps are set against Kentucky Bluegrass roughs with the fairways a brighter green so the contrasting colors are spectacular. When you drive into the complex and realize this entire 770 acre piece of property is for the enjoyment of members it's just hard to imagine it's here in our town.
